Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) and United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Partnership under the Partnership to Advance Clean Energy Deployment (PACE-D), along with CII- Godrej Green Business Centre (CII-Godrej GBC) and the National Renewable Energy Lab (NREL) jointly developed a Vendor Rating Program (VRP) for improving the quality and safety of rooftop solar installations in India. USAID, under its current flagship program South Asia Regional Energy Partnership (SAREP) is working closely with CII-Godrej GBC to implement the VRP and scale the program in India and other countries in South Asia – Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal, Maldives, and Sri Lanka.

This rating program provides a benchmarking tool for evaluating the various rooftop solar EPC companies/ installers/ vendors on a uniform set of parameters and then confer upon them, a rating to recognize the level of their competence. The vendor rating program assesses the vendors on both financial and technical capabilities as well as on the onsite performance of two of the rooftop solar PV systems installed by them in the recent years.
